"The best interface is no interface — or as little as possible."
Disney Parks and Cruises are among the most magical places on Earth, but guests are repeatedly pulled away from the wonder of the physical experience and locked into a cumbersome interface that adds stress and anxiety to an already overstimulated mind.
Their phone batteries are draining, and so is the magic, as they long for a guided and highly functional experience. To inform our design direction, we explored three key research areas: Disney's century-long history, the real guest experience at the parks, and best-in-class emotional and immersive experiences.
Our research led us to four distinct design directions, each drawing from a different facet of Disney's emotional legacy.
Inspired by the starlights to Neverland and Cinderella's glass slipper — a serene interface as a digital window into the magic of Disney.
The interface responds to the park's ambient light — matching the emotional tone of the guest's moment.
